Art Glass - 1st Kiln Firing

Normally I use the large kiln to fire my chards, but today is an unusual cold and rainy May day for California. I decided to use the kiln inside the studio so I can get a few pieces made this weekend. It's a small kiln so I was able to set it up on the workbench inside my shed.

First firing for this little kiln.

It's a great size kiln and very versatile because it runs on 110 voltage where the other kilns are 220 voltage. The first firing went great. I started it at 5:00pm and was all done 3 hours later. I should be able to pull out the pieces late tonight after they've cooled.

At approximately 1400 degrees. Almost there!

Remember to check back in a few weeks. I'll have the vases decorated from these elements and  I will post them on another blog!
